The Noiseless Portable

1921

Manufactured by the Noiseless Typewriter Company of Middletown, CT, this portable typewriter featured a three bank keyboard and a steel platen to reduce typing noise. At the rear of the machine was an unusual carriage locking device that served as a paper support when released. In 1924 the company was purchased by Remington and this model was soon reissued as the Remington Noiseless with a four bank keyboard using a rubber platen.
